2、nbefore.Algorithmdevelop-mentforthispurposerequirestesting/simulationtools,buttherearenosuitablecommercialtoolsonthemarket.Asimulationenvironmentforretrievingimagesfromdatabaseaccordinghistogramsimilaritiesispresentedinthispaper.Thisenvironmentallowstheuseofdiffere
3、ntcolorspacesandnumbersofbins.ThealgorithmsareimplementedwithMATLAB.Eachcolorsystemhasitsownm-files.Thephasesofthesoftwarebuildingprocessarepre-sentedfromsystemdesigntographicaluserinterface(GUI).ThefunctionalityisdescribedwithsnapshotsofGUI.1.IntroductionNowadayst
4、herearethousandsorhundredsofthousandsofdigitalimagesinanimagedatabase.Iftheuserwantstofindasuitableimageforhis/herpurposes,he/shehastogothroughthedatabaseuntilthecorrectimagehasbeenfoundoruseareferencebookorsome“intelligent”program.Videoondemand(VoD)servicesalsoreq
5、uiresanintelligentsearchsystemforend-users.VoDsystems’searchmethodsdifferslightlyfromimagedatabase’smethods.Areferencebookisasuitableoption,iftheimagesarearrangedwithausefulmethod,forexample:1)categories:animals,flags,etc,2)names(requiresagoodnamingtechnique)or3)da
6、tes.Anexperiencedusercanusethesesystemsaswellastextualsearches(keywordshavetobeinsertedinadatabase)efficiently.Therearesituationswhenamulti-languagesystemhastobeused.Therealanguageindependentsearchsystem’sbestpropertiescanbeutilized.Atoolwhichisbasedontheimages’pro
7、pertiescanbemadelanguageindependent.Thesepropertiescanbeforexamplecolor,shape,texture,spatiallocationofshapeetc.IntheMuVi-project[1]thiskindoftoolisunderconstruction.Itwillcoverthepropertiespresentedabove.Researchworkoncontent-basedimageretrievalhasbeendonein[2–6].
