2、owhasbeenextensivelyreportedintheliteraturebecauseofitspracticalsignificance.Nevertheless,ourunderstandingofthisproblemisfarfromcomplete.Forinstance,howdoesanoscillatingfluid-cylindersysteminfluenceaneighbouringcylinderwake?Thisquestionisrelevantinengineering,whereanoscillatin
3、gfluid-structuresystemisfrequentlyassociatedwiththepresenceofaneighbouringstructuresuchasheatexchangertubes,aclusterofhigh-risebuildings,[1]bundledtransmissionlinesandpilesofoffshorestructures.Laietal.investigatedexperimentallyflowinterferencebetweenoneoscillatingandonestation
4、arycylinderandIIfoundthatthefrequency(f)ofvortexsheddingfromthestationarycylindercouldbesmodifiedbytheoscillationoftheothercylinder,resultinginthelock-inoffwiththesoscillationfrequency(f).However,duetothelimitationofexperiments,manyissuesonethisproblemremaintoberesolved.Forexa
5、mple,thedragandliftforcesoncylindersarenotmeasured.Thereisinsufficientinformationonhowthistypeoflock-independsonthecylindercentre-to-centrespacing,T/d,thecylinderoscillatingamplitude,A/d,andthefrequencyratio,f/f,wheredisthecylinderdiameterandfisthevortexsheddingeoofrequencywhe
6、ntheoscillationisabsent.Theresearchaimstoinvestigatenumericallyhowanoscillatingfluid-structuresystemaffectsvortexsheddingfromaneighbouringstationarycylinder,thuscomplementingtheexperimentalinvestigationoftwoidenticalcircularcylindersinaside-by-sidearrangement.Thecalculationisc
