2、er3millionpatientsprehospitaltraumacarefrom567traumacenters.JustastheCOTwascommissionedinitialassessmentandmanagementbytheACSatthenationallevel,ithasalsoformedindividualmanagementofspecificinjuriescommitteesontraumaatthestatelevelthatworkundertherehabilitationdirectionofthenationalcommittee.Thisstru
3、cturehasproventobepowerfulbyallowingmanyoftheendeavorsthatadvancethecareoftheinjuredpatienttooccuratthestatelevel,becauseleadershipinfrastructureandpoliticsdifferregionally.Activitiesofthestatecommitteesfrequentlyincludetraumasystemdevel-OVERVIEWANDHISTORYopmentwiththecreationoftriagedocuments,maxim
4、izingtheTreatmentoftheinjuredpatienthasbeenapredominantmissionuseofprehospitalandhospitalresources,injurypreventionini-ofthesurgeonsincetheoriginofmedicalcare.Fewothersurgi-tiatives,maintenanceofstatewidetraumaregistries,andadvance-caldisciplinesincorporatesuchawiderangeofskillsasthosementofperforma
5、nceimprovementefforts.Frequently,amajorrequiredbythesurgeonwhoismanagingsevereinjury.Thepartofthisworkistheongoingpursuitofreliablefundingtreatmentofinjuriespredatesrecordedhistory,withevidenceofmechanismstopayfortheimprovementintraumacarethrough-neurosurgicalproceduresdiscoveredfromapproximately10,
