2、nsmitted.Withincreasingnetworkapplicationsandusers,thefrequencyofoccurrenceofnetworkcongestionrisestoagreatextent.Theemergenceofnetworkcongestionreducesnetworkthroughout,increasesdatatransmissiondelayandtherateofloss,anddamagesthequalityofnetworkservicesbadly.Cons
3、equently,itisveryessentialtodoresearchoncongestionandcongestioncontrol.Intheareaofcongestioncontrol,researchersathomeandabroadhavemadeverygreatachievements.PresentTCPcongestioncontrolmechanismandactivequeuemanagementalgorithmshaveplayedanimportantroleinavoidingand
4、dealingwithnetworkcongestion.However,furtherresearchshouldbemadeonhowtoavoidcongestionmoreefectively認(rèn)complicatedenvironments,howtomakedifferentstreamssharebandwidthimpartiallyandhowtoprovidegoodstabilityforthelengthofbuferqueueFirst,thisthesisgivestheconceptandess
5、enceofcongestionandsummarizessystematicallyrecentresultsofresearchonnetworkcongestion,thenfurtherresearchismadeoncongestioncontrolmechanismsforTCPcomponentsonendstationsandforIPcomponentsonnetworkdevices,suchasgateways,routersetc,finallythethesisclarifiestheauthor
6、'sopinionsoncongestioncontrolandputsforwardtwoalgorithmsincludingTCPseWIWOandSREDweFD.ExperimentsshowthatTCPWIWOreducestransmissiontimeforshortwebdatainhttpapplications,improvestheperformanceofshortdatatransmissionandhasTCP-friendlinessproperty.Inaddition,SREDFDpr
7、ovidesgoodimpartialityfordifferentdataflowsandprovidesgoodstabilityforthelengthofbuferqueue.NetworkSimulator(NS)isasortoffamousnetworksimulatorsoftwarewidelyusedathomeandabroad,andNSprovidesmuchconvenienceinanalyzingandevaluatingnetworkperformance.Experimentswitht
