3、importantinAsianeconomieswheresomeaspectsoftheeconomyseemto“gounderground”withoutanyduetaxationaffordedtothegovernmentorpropercreditaccordedtothepropertyownersorcopyrightorotherintellectualpropertyholders.Thisarticleexaminesmoralityandethicsfromacros
4、s-culturalperspective.ThearticleexaminesworksusingKohlberg’sCognitiveMoralDevelopmenttheoryandtheDefiningIssuesTest(DIT),inordertoascertainthemoralcognizanceofworkersandstudents,withparticularattentiontothevariablesofage,education,ethicseducation,and
5、gender.UnitedStatessamplesarecomparedwithstudiesofTaiwanesemanagersandTaiwanesestudents.Thepurposewastoseeifthereisrelationshipbetweenanyofthesevariablesandmoralmaturityandcognizance,aswellaswhetheranyoftheserelationshipswereculturallyinfluenced.Keyw

8、ainsmanagementexperience(Mujtabaetal,2009).Mujtaba(2010)alsostatesthatmoraldevelopmentoccursthroughtheprocessofsocialization,education,aging,andexperience.Eachindividualhastheabilitytothinkabouthisorherownthoughtprocess,whichisknownas"self-awareness.
