3、undandflighttestprogram,calledHyper-X,willtimesthespeedofsound.Thisisequivalenttodemonstrate“air-breathing”enginetechnologiesaboutonemilepersecondorapproximately3,600thatpromisetoincreasepayloadcapacity—ormilesperhouratsealevelandfarfasterthananyreducevehiclesizeforthesamepaylo
4、ad—forair-breathingaircrafthaseverflown.futurehypersonicaircraftand/orreusablespacelaunchvehicles.Builtaroundtheprogram’sX-43Asenvisioned,payloadcapacitywillbeincreasedresearchvehicle,thefirstflightinthistechnologybydiscardingtheheavyoxygenandassociateddemonstrationprogramtookp
