3、ealofpraisesandwonthePulitzerPrizeforLiterature.Thenovelbreakstheconventionoflinearnarrative,juxtaposesdifferentspaces,andalternatelytellsthedailylifeexperienceofthreewomenfromdifferenttimeandspace.Thediachronicsenseoftimegapinthisnovel,however,canhardlybeperceived,bu
4、ttheconfusion,lossandrebellionsimultaneouslyshowedinthethreestoriescanbedeeplyfeltinreadingprocess.Fromtheconceptualpointofheterotopia,Foucaultaimstoshowhowpowercanbeeffectivelyoperatedthroughspatialdivisionandheterogeneity’sexclusionanddiscipline.Heterotopia,whichisi
5、nclusiveofbinaryspacesbutmorethanthat,isacollectionofthediverse,broken,numerousspacesinitself.Theseheterogeneouscharacteristicsofheterotopia:contradictions,fragmentsandbrokenstatesbreaktheauthoritativediscourseanddeconstructthepowerorderofsubject.Thisthesisfirstlyanal
6、yzestheparticularphysicalspacesinthreewomencharacterswhoareturnedouttoberestrictedanddisciplinedphysicallyandmentally,andthenexploresthedistinctivelyheterogeneouscharacteristicsoffeministconsciousnessconstructedbydifferentimage,thuscontributingtodisplaytheinner-confli
