3、tiveeffectiverefractiveindexisproposedandnumericallystudied.Thewaveguidemaypossessmodeswithzerogroupvelocity,anditsfrequencyvarieswiththethicknessofthewaveguide.Alinearlytaperedleft-handedphotoniccrystalwaveguideisalsoproposedandstudied.Itisshownthattheso-called‘trappedr
4、ainbow’proposedbyTsakmakidis,Boardman,andHess[1]isdifficulttorealizeduetoacouplingofforward-andbackward-propagatingmodesnearzerogroupvelocity.However,differentfrequencycomponentsofabroadbandexcitationcanstillbeseparatedthroughpartialaccumulationatwaveguidesectionsofdiffe
