2、egistrationofdomainnamesandsoon.Theinformationisquiteimportantforgovernmentdecisionmakersandvaluableforcommercialenterprisestomaketheirbusinessdecisions.In1997,theauthoritiesconcerneddeterminedthatthesurveyshouldbecarriedoutbyCNNIC,incooperationwithotherfourmaj
3、ornetworkorganizationsinChina.FromNovember1997toJanuary2001,CNNIChadpublisheditssurveyforseventimes.Thesesurveyreportswerewellacceptedandwidelycitedbythepublicbothdomesticandoverseas.Furthermore,manyorganizationscontinuouslyrequestCNNICtoannouncethelateststatis
4、tics.Tosystemizethesurveyandtomakeitregular,theCNNICdecidedtoconductthesurveysemiannually,andissuethereportinJanuaryandJulyeachyear.ItshouldbepointedoutthattheTelecomAdministrationaffiliatedtoMII(theMinistryofInformationIndustry)andtheStateInformatizationOffice
5、hadsignedthedocumentinwhichrequestsrelativeorganizationstocooperatewiththeCNNIC’ssurvey.AgoodmanyofInternetorganizations,supportingwebsitesandmediagavestrongbakingtous,bywhichoursurveycouldcarryonsmoothly.Thecontentofthecurrentsurveyincludes:thetotalnumberofuse
6、rsandhosts,thenumberanddistributionofdomainnames,theinternationalbandwidthofeachnetwork,andthetotalnumberofWebsites.Thesurveyanalyzedthedistribution,generalinformationandcharacteristicsofdomesticusers,andalsoprovidesusers’informationabouttheiraccesssituation,be
7、havior,andcustom,eventheirviewstowardcertainrelativehotissues.InaccordancetothestatisticstheoryandInternationalconventions，weintegratedtheexperiencesofprevioussevensurveys,adoptingmanymethodssuchasautomaticonlinesearching,onlinesurveyandsamplingsurvey.Amongwhic
