1、ABSTRACTAtheoreticalmodeltodescribetheflowandmasstransferphenomenoninmulti-passdistillationcolumnhasbeenproposedbycombiningcomputationalfluiddynamicsandmasstransfer.Usingthismodel,thisworkprimarilyfocusesonstudyoftheinfluencesofliquidflowpatternandvapor
2、/liquidmixingstateonthetrayefficiency.Specifically,therearetwoimportantaspectsmainlyconcerned,asfollows:Foronepart,theinfluenceoftheliquidflowconfigurationonthetrayefficiencyisanalyzed.Firstly,fora-typetray,theexistenceofrecirculationregionandthestrongv
3、elocitydifferencebetweenthearc-shapedregionandthemainflowregiononleft-sidetrayinducesitslowerseparationefficiency.Inordertooptimizethetrayconfigurationandtherebyimprovethetrayseparationefficiency,severalmodifiedconfigurationsaredesigned.Calculatedresult
4、srevealthattheflowpatternbecomesmuchmoreuniformonthesemodifiedtraysandtherebythetrayefficiencyisincreasedcomparedwiththeirtraditionalcounterparts.Alsothestabletrendofvarianceintrayefficiencyforthemodifiedtrays(especiallymodifiedtrayIIandIII)atdifferentQ
5、1/Q2sshowsgreatpromisetoensuretheperformanceofthewholedistillationcolumnevenifitsinternalvapor-liquiddistributionisactuallynotquitewell.Finally,detailedquantitativereasonsleadingtotheenhancedtrayefficiencyformodifiedtrayshavebeenanalyzed.Ontheonehand,th
6、evapor-liquidresidencetimebecomesmoreandmoreimportantwhentheQ1/Q2isincreased.Ontheotherhand,theexistenceofrecirculationregiononthesidetrayactuallyproducesalargedecreaseintrayefficiencyalthoughitisrelativelysmallcomparedwithsingle-passtrays.Fortheotherpa
7、rt,theeffectsofvapor/liquidmixingstatesonthetrayefficiencyarealsoinvestigated.Tothatend,fourcasesaredesignedandsimulated.IncaseI,simulatedresultsshowthatthetrayefficiencyismuchhigherontrayswithevennumberthanthosewithoddnumber,whichisprimarilyduetotheexi
8、stenceofnon-idealflowpatternonodd-numberedtrays.IncaseII,asaresultofnon-uniformdistributionforinletliquidconcentration,theseparationefficiencyisreducedoneachtraycomparedwithcaseI.Besides,theefficiencylossbecomeslargerastheincreas
