5、fgeneration,orlossofalargeload.Thesystemresponsetosuchdisturbancesinvolveslargeexcursionsofgener-atorrotorangles,power?ows,busvoltages,andothersystemvariables.Itisimpor-tantthat,whilesteady-statestabilityisafunctiononlyofoperatingconditions,transientstabilityisafunctionofboththeoperatingco
6、nditionsandthedistur-1bance(s).Thiscomplicatestheanalysisoftransientstabilityconsiderably.Repeatedanalysisisrequiredfordifferentdisturbancesthataretobeconsidered.Inthetran-sientstabilitystudies,frequentlyconsidereddisturbancesaretheshortcircuitsofdifferenttypes.Outofthese,normallythethree-
7、phaseshortcircuitatthegeneratorbusisthemostseveretype,asitcausesmaximumaccelerationoftheconnected2machine.Historically,simulationoftransientphenomenarelatedtopowersystemshasbeen3carriedonusingtheelectromagnetictransientsprogram(EMTP)oroneofitsvari-ants,suchast
