1、METHOD8310POLYNUCLEARAROMATICHYDROCARBONS1.0SCOPEANDAPPLICATION1.1Method8310isusedtodeterminetheconcentrationofcertainpoly-nucleararomatichydrocarbons(PAH)ingroundwaterandwastes.Specifically,Method8310isusedtodetectthefollowingsubstances:AcenaphtheneChryseneAcenaphthyleneDibenzo(a,h)anthraceneAnthra
2、ceneFluorantheneBenzo(a)anthraceneFluoreneBenzo(a)pyreneIndeno(1,2,3-cd)pyreneBenzo(b)fluorantheneNaphthaleneBenzo(ghi)perylenePhenanthreneBenzo(k)fluoranthenePyrene1.2UseofMethod8310presupposesahighexpectationoffindingthespecificcompoundsofinterest.Iftheuserisattemptingtoscreensamplesforanyoralloft
3、hecompoundslistedabove,hemustdevelopindependentprotocolsfortheverificationofidentity.1.3ThemethoddetectionlimitsforeachcompoundinreagentwaterarelistedinTable1.Table2liststhepracticalquantitationlimit(PQL)forothermatrices.Thesensitivityofthismethodusuallydependsonthelevelofinterferencesratherthaninst
4、rumentallimitations.ThelimitsofdetectionlistedinTable1fortheliquidchromatographicapproachrepresentsensitivitiesthatcanbeachievedintheabsenceofinterferences.Wheninterferencesarepresent,thelevelofsensitivitywillbelower.1.4Thismethodisrecommendedforuseonlybyexperiencedresidueanalystsorundertheclosesupe
5、rvisionofsuchqualifiedpersons.2.0SUMMARYOFMETHOD2.1Method8310provideshighperformanceliquidchromatographic(HPLC)conditionsforthedetectionofppblevelsofcertainpolynucleararomatichydrocarbons.Priortouseofthismethod,appropriatesampleextractiontechniquesmustbeused.A5-to25-uLaliquotoftheextractisinjectedin
