2、pehascreatedalotofspeculationamongeducatorsonhowthesemediacanbeusedtosupportlearning,buttherehavebeenratherfewstudiessofar.Ourexplorativeinterviewstudycontributesbycriticallyexploringhowcampusstudentsperceiveusingsocialmediatosupporttheirstudiesandtheperceived
3、benefitsandlimitationscomparedwithothermeans.Althoughthevastmajorityoftherespondentsusesocialmediafrequently,a“digitaldissonance”canbenoted,becausefewofthemfeelthattheyusesuchmediatosupporttheirstudies.Theintervieweesmainlyputforthe-mailandinstantmessaging,whi
4、chareusedamongstudentstoaskquestions,coordinategroupworkandsharefiles.SomeofthemmentionusingWikipediaandYouTubeforretrievingcontentandFacebooktoinitiatecontactwithcoursepeers.Studentsregardsocialmediaasoneofthreekeymeansoftheeducationalexperience,alongsideface
5、-to-facemeetingsandusingthelearningmanagementsystems,andaremainlyusedforbriefquestionsandanswers,andtocoordinategroupwork.Inconclusion,wearguethatteachingstrategyplaysakeyroleinsupportingstudentsinmovingfromusingsocialmediatosupportcoordinationandinformationre
