2、itativerelevanceforfabricatingthestructureandreactivityofmetallocysteinateproteinsthatareinvolvedinmetaltransport.Theseligandswereusedtoobserveifthetypeofreactionthattakesplacebetweenthemandthemetalcations,whichareZinc(Zn2+)andCobalt(Co2+),canproduceaniondetectingmolecule.XylenolOrangewasuseda
3、sacolorindicatortodeterminetheextinction(metalconcentrationdependence)whichisusedfromBeer’slawA=EBCandexaminethevisiblespectroscopyofthevarioussolutions,whichdeterminestherelativeconcentrationofcomplexedandfreeindicators.Althoughnomajorresultsareyetfound,zincappearstobetheleastdiscriminateofth
4、emetalcationswithrespecttoxylenolorange.CobaltshowedalowerextinctionthanZincwhichmeantmoreconcentrationwasneededthanZinc.Thepurposeofsuchanexperimentistoseeiftheseligandscanbeanalternativeforiondetectionwhencombinedwithametal,whichforthemomentseemstobeZinc.INTRODUCTIONIonrecognitioncontinuesto
5、beamajorresearchgoalformanysupramolecularchemistgroupsaroundtheworld.Phenylmercaptoacetamide(PMA)&Benzylmercaptoactamide(BMA)areligandsorinotherwordstheyareamoleculethatbondstothecentralmetalatomofacompound.Whatisexpectedtohappenisthattheligands,BMAandPMA,wouldreactwiththemetals,Zinc(Zn)andCob
