3、unication.”Eversincethen,ChinaandAmericahaveexchangedmanyhandshakesofvariouskinds.Thefundamentalimplicationofthisexampleisthattheneedanddesiretocommunicateacrossdifferencesincultureandideologyisnotonlyfeltbutthetwocountriesbutbymanyothernationsaswell.Aswecans
4、eetoday,environmentalistsfromdiffrerntcountrisearemakingjointeffortstoaddresstheissueofglobalwarming,econormistsareseekingsolutionstofinancialcrisesthatrangeinaparticularregion,butnonethelesscrippletheworld’secononmy,anddiplomatsandpoliticiansaregettingtogeth
5、ertodiscusstheissueofcombatingterrorism.Peaceandprosperityhasbecomeacommongoalthatwearestrivingforallovertheworld.UndelyingthismighttrendofglobalizationistheechoofE.M.Forster’swords,“Onlyconnect!”WiththeITrevolutiontakingplace,traditionalboundariesofhumansoci
6、etyfallaway.Ourculture,politics,societyandcommercearebeingsloshedintoalargemeltingpotofhumanity.Inthisinterlinkedworld,therearenooutsiders,foradisturbanceinoneplaceislikelytoimpactotherpartsoftheglobe.Wehavebeguntorealizethataworlddividedcannotendure.Chinaisn
7、owactivelyintegratingintotheworld.OurrecententrytotheWTOisagoodexample.Fordecades,wehavetakenprideinbeingself-reliant,butnowwerealizetheimportanceofparticipatinginandcontributingtoabroadereconomicorder.FromtheprecariousroleintheworldarenatoourpersentWTOmenber
