3、ionswillnotbesufficienttosupplyjobsforallwomenseekingwork,theymustchoosealternativesinotheroccupations.Manyofthesejobsmaypayhigherwagesandoffergreateropportunitiesforpromotion.Inthepast,toomanywomenwereforcedtosettleforsecondbest.Otherswerewillingtosettleforinferiorjobsbecausetheyfeltthattheirstay

4、inthelaborforcewouldbetemporary.However,thesituationischangingasmoreandmorewomenbecomeawareofthepossibilityofcombiningtherolesofwife,mother,andhomemakerwiththatofpaidworker.Employer'sattitudesaboutwomen'srolesanddesirestoworkneedtobechanged.Perhaps,theoverriding(首要的)factorsandthemythsthatemployers

5、,policymakers,andothersinoursocietyhaveunfairlyassociatedwiththeworkpatternsofwomen.Onesuchmythisthatwomenarenotseriouslyattachedtothelaborforce,astheyworkonlyforpocketmoney.However,onerecentstudyshowsthatofthe33millionwomeninthelaborforce,morethanhalfareworkingbecauseofpressingeconomicneeds.These

6、womencompriseagroupwhoareeithersingle,widowed,divorced,separated,ormarriedtomenwithincomesoflessthan$5,000ayear.Womenconstitutenearlytwo-fifthsoftheworkforce.However,becauseofforegone(已往的)conclusionsabouttheirinterestsandabilities,womenareunfairlyrestrictedinthekindsofjobstheyhold.Theyareconcentra
