2、;acceptedinrevisedform20November1990)Abstract-Wedescribetwoefficientcomputersimulationmethodsforinvestigatingflowandtransportprocessesinporousmedia.Thefirstmethod,whichusedrandom-walktechniques,isusedforestimatingeffectivediffusioncoefficientsindisorderedporousmedia.Thesecondmethod,
3、whichisbasedonlatticegasesandcelIularautomatamodels,isusedforcalculatingtheeffectivepermeabilityofaporousmedium.Wedescribeinsomedetailthecomputeralgorithmsthatemploythesemethods.Etticlentuseofvectonz-ationenablesustosimulatediffusionindisorderedporousmedia,representedbytwo-orthree-d
4、imensionallattices,withuptoIO9sites,andaspeedofnearlyfourstepspermicrosecondandperGray-YMPprocessor.Vectorizationofthealgorithmbasedoncellularautomataalsoenablesustosimulateflowinatwo-dimensionalmodelporousmediumwithmorethanamillionsites.Asexamples,westudydilksionandflowinstratified
