4、tvarietyoftechnologies,inparticularadvancedprocesscontrolanddiagnosticmethods.Notonlyhasthetechnologyprogressedandnewtechnologyemerged,butourunderstandingofthefundamentalsofunitprocesses,rawmaterialsandproductpropertieshasalsodeepenedconsiderably.Thevariationsintheindustry
5、抯heterogeneousrawmaterials,andthesophisticationofpulpingandpapermakingprocessesrequireaprofoundunderstandingofthemechanismsinvolved.Paperandboardproductsarecomplexinstructureandcontainmanydifferentcomponents.Therequirementsplacedonthewaytheseproductsperformarewide,variedan
6、doftenconflicting.Thoseinvolvedinproductdevelopmentwillcontinuetoneedaprofoundunderstandingofthechemistryandphysicsofbothrawmaterialsandproductstructures.Paperhasplayedavitalroleintheculturaldevelopmentofmankind.Itstillhasakeyroleincommunicationandisneededinmanyotherareaso
7、foursociety.Thereisnodoubtthatitwillcontinuetohaveanimportantplaceinthefuture.Papermust,however,maintainitscompetitivenessthroughcontinuousproductdevelopmentinordertomeettheever-increasingdemandsonitsperformance.Itmustalsobeproducedeconomicallybyenvironment-friendlyprocess
