3、,knownasSystemI/O,andmemorycopies.wasreleasedinOctober2000.Today,thisisknownasInfiniBand.InfiniBandusesakernelbypasstechnologycalledRemoteDirectThiswhitepaperwillexplorethemeritsofthisarchitectureasMemoryAccess(RDMA),amethodbywhichacomputermaywellasmethodsofoptimizingitsuse.accessa
4、nareaofmemoryonaremotedeviceorCPUwithouttheinvolvementoftheoperatingsystem(OS).Usingthisprotocol,anapplicationdevelopercanachievehigh-throughputandlow-latencynetworking.ThetechnologywasdevelopedforuseintheHighPerformanceComputing(HPC)marketwheremassivelyparallelcomputingclustersare
5、usedtosolveverycomplexcomputationalproblems.RDMAoverEthernet(RoE)isalsopossible,andultimatelyachievesincreasedbandwidthefficiencyandloweroverhead.Thistechnologyisideallysuitedtoimage/sensorprocessingapplicationswheretheapplicationisreceivinglargeamountsofsensordata,suchasinRADAR/SO
6、NARarraysandhigh-reso-lutionvideocameras.Thisdatacanbeprocessedbyascalableclusterofhigh-performanceCPU/GPUs,allcapableofcommu-nicatingathighspeedsusingRDMA.Manyoftoday’smilitarylandvehiclesandunmannedaerialvehicle(UAV)platformshavedemandingsurveillance,targetacquisition/trackingand
