3、ingtoerosionforces,theentirecontinenthasbeencategorizedtoeightregionsincludingNorthwesternLoessPlateau,NortheasternBlackEarthHills,NorthernEarthyRockies,SouthernRedEarthHills,SouthwestEarthyRockies,SouthwestCarstRockies,DebrisFlow-ProneRegion,NorthwestAridandSemi-aridDeserts
4、,andFreezeDominatedErosionRegion.SystematicsoilerosioncontrolinChinastartedinthe1980s.FocuseshavebeenoneightkeyregionsencompassingsevenlargeriverbasinssuchastheYangtzeRiverandtheYellowRiver.Acomprehensivesoilerosioncontrolsystemhasbeendevelopedthatintegrateslandplanningandma
5、nagement,biologicalbasedmethods,engineeringbasedmethods,agriculturalcroppingtechnologyandlawenforcement.Soilerosioncontrolhasbeenbasedonsmallwatershedandimplementedonacountylevelunderacomprehensiveplanningframeworkformountain,waterandcroplandecosystems.1IntroductionModernacc
6、eleratedsoilerosionproblemshavebeenlinkedtoirrationallandexplorationresultingfromhumanactivities.Chinawithitshugepopulationandlandmassandvarietyofclimatesofferanidealsettingforstudyinghowsoilerosionandsedimentationareaffectedbynaturalandsocioeconomicdevelopment.LandsinChinah
