4、featuresofCCexaminersarelookingforinmarkingAcademicWritingTask2;theextenttowhichtheydifferintheirmarkingofCCcomparedtotheirmarkingoftheothercriteria;whetherqualificationsandexperiencehadanimpactonassessmentreliability;andhowmuchcurrentexaminertrainingmaterialsclarif
5、yunderstandingsofCC.Thestudyinvolvedthink-aloudprotocolsandfollow-upinterviewswith12examinersmarkingasetof10scripts,andaquantitativestudywith55examinersmarking12scriptsandcompletingafollow-upquestionnaire.Thequantitativedatarevealedthatexaminerreliabilitywaswithinth
6、eacceptablerangeforallfourcriteria.ThemarkingofCCwasslightlylessreliablethanthemarkingofGrammaticalRangeandAccuracyandLexicalResource,butnotsignificantlydifferenttoTaskResponse.Nosignificanteffectscouldbefoundforexaminers’qualificationsorexperience,whichsuggeststhat
7、thetrainingiseffective.ThefindingsshowedthatexaminersfoundthemarkingofCCmoredifficultthantheothercriteria.ExaminerswereconscientiousinapplyingthebanddescriptorsandusedtheterminologyofthedescriptorsforCCmostofthetime.Theyalsointroducedothertermsnotexplicitlyusedinthe
8、CCdescriptors,suchas‘flow’,‘structure’and‘linkingwords’,aswellastheterms,‘essay’,‘introduction’‘conclusion’and‘topicsentence’.Theintroduct
