5、italdegeneracyshouldbeliftedbyathequantizationofmomentumimposedbyperiodicmagnetic?eldparalleltotheCNTaxis[Fig.1(a)].Thisboundaryconditionsalongthenanotubecircumferenceeffectcanbeunderstoodbynotingthat,duetoclockwise[1].Thissymmetryresultsinafourfolddegenerateshellandanticlockwisemotionaroundthetube,
6、electronsinstructureintheenergyspectrumofCNTquantumdotsdegenerateandsubbandsshouldhaveoppositeorbital(QDs).InearlyexperimentsonCNTQDs[2,3],however,magneticmoments,orb.Inthecaseof?nitelengthCNTs,thissymmetrywasnotobserved,presumablyduetotheadiscreteenergyspectrumisexpectedfromsizequantiza-presence
7、ofdefects.ImprovementsinthequalityofCNTstion.ThelevelspectrumofaCNTQDcanthenbede-andadvancesinnanofabricationtechniqueshaveenabledscribedastwosetsofspindegeneratelevels,EnandEn,therecentobservat
