3、incalvesandpiglets,itwaspossibletodemonstratethepresence,forthefirsttimeinsouthernChile,ofCoronavirus-likeparticlesinafaecalsampleofa15daysoldcalfbymeansofelectronmicroscopy.Theimportanceofthisdiagnosisandsomeclinicalcharacteristicsofthediseasearebrieflydiscussed.Finally,theneedformoreresearchon

5、erequiredtreatment.Theaetiologyofneonataldiarrheaisdiverse.Besidesinfectiousagents,otherexoge-nonsandendogenonsfactorsparticipateinthegenesisofthedisease,suchasunbalancedfeeding,poorconditions,housing,temperature,transportationandovercrowding(2).Infectiousagentsofneonataldiarrheaincludebacteria,
6、fungi,virusesandparasiteswhichcanactseparatelyor,asoftenisthecase,inacpmbinedform(7,13).Amongtheviralagentsofimportancedescribedhavebeen:BovineViralDiarrhea(BVD)virus,Enterovirus,Parvovirus,Adenovirus,Rotavirus,CoronavirusandAstrovirus(2,3,7,12).InChile,theparticipationofRotavirus(1)andBVD(10)in
