2、tobeassignedprobablytothesecondorthirdgenerationafterPlato,whenhiswritingswerewellknownatAthensandAlexandria.Theyexhibitconsiderableoriginality,andareremarkableforcontainingseveralthoughtsofthesortwhichwesupposetobemodernratherthanancient,andwhichthereforehav
3、eapeculiarinterestforus.TheSecondAlcibiadesshowsthatthedifficultiesaboutprayerwhichhaveperplexedChristiantheologianswerenotunknownamongthefollowersofPlato.TheEryxiaswasdoubtedbytheancientsthemselves:yetitmayclaimthedistinctionofbeing,amongallGreekorRomanwriti
