4、ythefteveryyear,andtheoveralllevelofdistrustforallthingsInternetmayseemjusti?ed.Yetonlyabout10percentofidentitytheftoccursthroughsomeformofInternet-basedtransaction.Overwhelmingly,identitytheftoccursthroughmisplacedorerroneouslydeliveredpaperworkorlostwallets.Almosthalfofthosevictimizedbyidentity
5、thefthaveapriorpersonalrelationshipwiththepersonwhovictimizedthem.Inmanycases,afamilymemberhassuccessfullystolentheiridentityusingtheiraccesstocon?dential?nancialrecords.Childrenhavestolenparent’sidentities,andparentshavestolenchildren’sidentities.However,withouttrustingourownfamily,familylifewou
