3、euseofcz}dinthesisabstractswrittenbyEnglish-majorEFLlearners.Thethesisanalyzestheuseofcz}dbyfocusingonthecausesresultinginthepragmaticfailuresproducedintheabstracts.Itcombinesthetheoryofpragmaticfailureanalysisalongwiththetheoryofthepragmaticfunctionoftheconjunctioncz}d.Asfortheresearchmethod,itis
4、designedtopresentaqualitativeandquantitativeanalysisofthedataFromtheanalysisofthedata,threetypesofpragmaticfailuresarefoundandtheyare:symmetryviolation,transitivityviolationandadditionviolation.Inaddition,thequantitativeanalysisshowsthatthehigher-levelEnglish-majorEFLlearnerstendtoproducelesspragm
5、aticfailurethanthelower-levelEnglish-majorEFLlearners.Thefactorswhichcausethesepragmaticfailuresarealsodiscussed.Theyaremainly:lackofthediscourseknowledge,lackoftheinnerlogicoftheconjunctioncz}}尤interferenceoftheChinesewayofthinkingandexpressing,andlackofEnglishproficiency.Atlast,thisthesisdiscuss
