4、ve，shecouldnotpossiblyignoretheracialproblem．Sheisdifferentonlyinthatshewasrelativelymildandindirectinvoicingherstand，viewpointandclaim．InTheirEyes，Hurston’SracialstandismainlyshowedthroughthetransmiRingandrepresentingofblackfolklore．Hurstonmergedinthisn
5、ovelalargeamountoffolkloricelements，whichisnotmerelyanexpressionofherlovefortheblackculturaltraditions，butalsoameansofawakeningblackradialconsciousnessandreconstructingblackcultureidentity．InthetimeofliarlemRenaissance，blackwriterswerefacedwiththedilemma
6、ofa‘‘doubleaudience”．Ontheonehand，Hurstonsatisfiedthecuriosityabouttheblackprimitivecultureofwhitereadersandgothernovelpublishedbyfillingthenovelwithfolkloricelements．Itisevidentthatfolkloreisjustasmilingmasktoshowbeforethewhitesandaofsurvivalthroughpubl
7、ication．Besides，bypresentingblackfolklore，Hurstoncritidizedwhiteculturalvaluesandconveyedherhopeofracialequalityindirectly．Ontheotherhand，byinjectingherloveofblackfolkloreintoTheirEyesshetriedtoarouseanechoinblacksandmakethemrediscovertheirtraditionalcul
