3、foreigncommoditiesarealwaysattractingourattention.Andforeignbrandsareubiquitous,dazzlingoureyes.Againstthisbackground,itisimperativetomakeastudyofforeignbrandnamesandtheirtranslation.Thisthesis,、)I,imfunctionalequivalenceasitstheoreticalguide,suggestsandproveseffectiveprinci
4、plesandstrategiesforsuccessfultranslationofforeignbrandnames.First,thethesisbrieflystatesthebackgroundofthestudy,introducesEnglishbrandnames,mentionsthesignificance,methodsandstructureofthethesis,beforeitreviewsrelevantliterature,includingstudiesontranslationofforeignbrandna
5、mesinChinaandNida’Sfunctionalequivalence.Next,theauthordiscussesvariousotherfactorsworthcontemplatingintheprocessoftranslationofforeignbrandnamesintoChinese.Then,guidedbyNida’Sfunctionalequivalenceandconsideringthecharacteristicsandfunctionsofforeignbrandnames,theauthorpropo
6、sesandillustratesthe‘'three·beauty'’principleandthatofbrevity,readability,andassociability.Immediatelyafterwards,theauthorsuggestsandverifiesfourstrategiesfortranslationofforeignbrandnames,namely,transliteration,literaltranslation,liberaltranslationandflexibletranslation.Fin
